AEGIS Leeds East joined local families for an afternoon of martial arts, community spirit and some memorable moments

We had a great time representing AEGIS Leeds East at the Roundhay Breeze Festival earlier this month.

Lead instructors, Senior Master Chrissy Foulds and Master Ashleigh Gibson, were joined by a group of AEGIS students to showcase the academy, demonstrate some of the skills we teach and meet families from across the local community.

Breaking Boards with the Lord Mayor of Leeds

One of the highlights of our day was getting a visit from the Lord Mayor of Leeds, Councillor Stephen Holroyd.

The Lord Mayor was more than happy to get involved, pulling on the gloves and joining us for a spot of board breaking. It was a brilliant moment and completely captured the spirit of the day: friendly, energetic and open to everyone willing to have a go.

Big thanks to Councillor Holroyd for taking the time to visit us, speak to the students and take an interest in AEGIS Martial Arts.

A Warm Welcome from the Roundhay Community

But what really made the day special for us was the level of interest we received from local people.

So many families stopped to have a go at board breaking, speak with our instructors and find out more about the martial arts classes available at AEGIS Leeds East. We loved answering your questions and meeting children and adults who were curious about giving martial arts a try.

We were genuinely blown away by the response and looking forward to welcoming new recruits to the academy for their free taster classes.

Events like the Roundhay Breeze Festival are a fantastic way to bring local families, organisations and businesses together. We need more of them and it's something we're right behind. There was a wonderful community atmosphere throughout the day, and we are grateful to everyone involved in making it happen.

Thanks to the organisers, everyone who came over to meet us and, of course, our students for representing AEGIS Leeds East so brilliantly.

If you met us at the festival and would like to try martial arts for yourself, we would love to welcome you to AEGIS Leeds East for a free taster class.

If you are attending any of the other Breeze festivals this summer you may find our other Academies around Leeds North, Leeds South and Leeds West taking part also.
