COVID - 19 Policy

Updated 17/5/21

***May 17th Update*** Adults may now train in classes for thin air and padwork. This is done via controlled bubbles which are organised by the academy, and is fully in line with the BMABA RtP document, approved by DCMS. *********** The safety of our students, parents and instructors is a priority here at AEGIS. Please make sure to fully read this guidance before attending your classes. Signs and Symptoms The NHS currently identifies common symptoms of COVID-19 to include: High temperature over 38˚C, new and persistent cough, loss of taste or sense of smell These may be signs an individual has been infected by COVID-19, and it is vital that you do not attend the academy if you or anyone you have been in contact with recently is displaying any of the above symptoms General procedures to ensure safety

  • Wash your hands – regularly and thoroughly clean your hands with soap (for minimum of 20 seconds) and an alcohol-based (minimum 60% ethanol or 70% isopropanol) hand rub. Washing your hands with soap and water or using alcohol-based hand rub kills viruses that may be on your hands.

  • Maintain social distancing rules - maintain at least 2 metre distance and where not possible, at least 1 metre plus between yourself and others.

  • Avoid touching hands to face, mouth or nose - Hands touch many surfaces and surface to hand transfer can spread the virus. Once contaminated, hands can transfer the virus to your eyes, nose or mouth.

  • Catch it, bin it, kill it - Make sure you, and the people around you, follow good respiratory hygiene. This means covering your mouth and nose with your bent elbow or tissue when you cough or sneeze.

At the academy

  • Ensure that you (or anyone in your household) are not showing positive COVID-19 symptoms. If you are, do not attend class and please follow the government guidelines for self-isolation and testing. Inform us via email immediately so that we can instigate any track and trace protocols if necessary.

  • Currently class attendance is controlled by mandatory class booking. Students who arrive late for class or have not booked will not be permitted into the academy under any circumstances.

  • Any persons entering the academy, either student guest, will be required to comply with our safety measures which include (but are not limited to):

    • Use of hand sanitiser

    • Temperature checks

    • Use of masks in all public areas (ages 11+)

  • When in the academy, social distancing must be maintained at all times. Students/parents will be assigned a personal training area and must remain in that area at all times.

  • There will be no sharing of equipment between students. Academy equipment will be loaned on a case by case basis and thoroughly cleaned before and after use

  • The entire academy will be sanitised before and after every class, and deep cleaned at the end of every training day.

  • Families training together and under 18s are now able to take part in padwork, partner work and sparring. This is done via controlled bubbles which are organised by the academy, and is fully in line with the BMABA RtP document, approved by DCMS.

We look forward to relaxing these measures however will only do so when government guidance allows. In the meantime, we thank you for your cooperation and compliance with our policies.
